Here's the situation, based on aggregate polling data from the site in the sidebar on the left, electoral-vote.com. Definition of "in play" is either a: polling percentages fall within the margin of error (NC, FL, et al), or b: polling differently than the state's historical trend (IN, VA, et al). Obama needs only 6 EVs from the in-play section to win, most of which is leaning his direction already. Even if you argue that Pennsylvania should be in play instead of strong obama, mccain still needs to make up a lot more ground. But, come on, PA has voted democrat in the last 4 elections. It's not going to change now. Anyway, the upshot is that even if you don't believe in polls, it's hard to ignore this. McCain does not appear to be doing well.
